The uniqueness of Istanbul is it's existence across two continents, Europe and Asia. Uskudar port, on the Asian side, is inhabited by many young people but lacks oppurtunities for social interaction. I am insterting a canopy system over a part of some public stairs where hookah, chai and traditional sweets can be served. A stage on the water in front of the canopy provides a platform for live entertainment, drawing from the European culture across the Bosphorus. traditional forms with contemporary materials and lighting are used to create a bridge between traditional and contemporary Istanbul.

Plan (daytime)
There are color screens placed between the canopy structure that light passes through during the day. The screens also have an islamic pattern etched onto it. It allows a lighting effect to take place under teh structure.
Plan (nightime)
There are color screens with islamic patterns on it placed between the canopy structure that are lit up during the night. A similar lighting color gradient is mimicked using the lights under the domes and on the domes themselves. The domes are made of chrome metal triangles with LED spot lights at the junction of each triangle and the domes on top of the pathways are make of glass that is lit up. The difference makes egress identifiable.
